Snolo High Performance Alpine Sleds have raised the extreme sports bar another notch and launched snow sledding into the 21st century. Made from carbon fibre for maximum durability and high responsiveness, Snolo sleds are not for the faint hearted.
I was involved in the 2 year development with 4design and founder Sean Boyd from the early design stages until the first production model was released in December 2012.
duoTrek is a hybrid snowboarding mountaineering boot that features studs in the base to give greater grip when hiking through dense snow and ice. This concept was developed for my final year university project and I was awarded a Gold Best Design Award in 2009.
Sleepwalker is designed to simulate the motion of a moving pram. Simply place the front wheel of a pram or stroller between each of the rollers and watch your baby drift off to the land of nod. Designed and developed at 4design from ideation through to working prototypes from 2011 to 2012.
The tricks performed by wakeboarders and kiteboarders are becoming more technical and extreme by the day. This level of skill demands better equipment for riders who train on trampolines when unable to get out on the water. Soft foam training boards exist, but BounceBoard offers a higher level of control and similarity to the ‘real deal’ boards due to the shaping, toe ramps, straps and formed high-back heel cups.
Designed at 4design from ideation through to rendered images in 2012.
FlexON is a polypropylene plastic flat pack chair that can be assembled with a series of screw together fixings. Durable enough for outdoor use and a perfect complement to an indoor environment. It was designed and developed in 2008.
The Ambience Series of wood burners is the perfect combination of design meets engineering. It was the first time that New Zealands #1 selling wood fires company had partnered with design company and the award winning results speak for themselves. I was involved in the conception, development and some production design during my time at 4design in 2012.
The R Series is a minimalist approach to designing panels on a raw firebox. The result is an inexpensive to manufacture but highly efficient wood burner incorporating simple and crisp design form.
I was involved in the conception, development and some production design during my time at 4design in 2012.
A rugby helmet that sends a live video feed to coaches on the side line is a huge step forward in the training and development of the sport. Coaches can also directly communicate player specific feedback during training sessions. 4design housed the technology developed by Insight Sports into a rugged, removable insert and the soft shell helmet in 2012 from the first working prototypes through to the first production run.
IRIS is the world's first active safety alert system for hunters. It warns a hunter with a flashing red light and vibration if they mistakenly target someone wearing IRIS detectable apparel.
I was involved in a small amount of ideation and 3D modeling because the project was just beginning as I was leaving 4design at the end of 2012. I wanted to include this project as a strongly believe it should become adopted by all hunters and hope to raise more awareness by including it on my site.
